Diesel powers its way to victory

Ok, nothing to do with F1, but I thought I would write about it anyway - Tom Kristensen crossed the line to win the 12 hours of Sebring in the debut race of the Audi R10, the V12 diesel powered car. Kristensen broke the record for the most 12 hours of Sebring victories (4) in the process. There were many questions about the reliability of the car, but it was almost faultless the whole race. What is impressive about the 5.5L V12 TDI turbo diesel power plant is not so much its estimated 650 hp power output, but its estimated 810 ft lbs of torque (source:Wikipedia). Coupled with good fuel economy, diesel power may be the technology of the future, as far as sports car racing goes.
